This is a series of images taken looking across the Lac de Matemale in the Capcir valley in Pyrenées-Orientales, France. The lake had half frozen over as the temperatures had plummeted in previous days although they were rising again at the time the photos were taken. The ski resort you can see on the other side of the lake is Les Angles. You can see the ice cracks around the stones near the shore, the stones and ice that people have thrown onto the ice to test it’s strength. I don’t think anyone would have been ready to test it’s strength using their own body weight though. As I was at the lake side the sun started to set. This added an extra warmth to the images as the orange clouds were reflected in the ice.
